Too long to explain. But in short: If you think something is extremely important, try to think will it still be important in 15 years? In 250? In 500? Nobody will remember that you even existed, not to mention your problems, your conflicts, your fights. So relax and enjoy life.
That's why I work on MAME. 17 years ago, I asked myself exactly that, and thus far it has remained important. While other emulators have come and gone, MAME has remained. It might not be around in 250 years, I know I won't, but at this point my work will certainly outlive me.
