Aspie bothers me because it’s used in a better-than-thou way and as a cutesy euphemism.
I despise the term "aspie" for the same reason that we don't call people with cerebral palsy "palsies". It's ostensibly a slur.

Are you sure you mean ostensibly? Because I've only ever heard it used by the ASD community, and I kind of doubt we would call ourselves by an obvious slur.

"As appears or is stated to be true, though not necessarily so". Moreover, I am autistic as well, and resent the implied exclusion in your use of the words "we" and "ourselves". I was speaking for myself only, and I personally view it as a slur. Have a pleasant evening.
