I've spent 10 years and hundreds of hours outlining and living in my point of view, I don't think Twitter really works for an extended discussion of it. I gave $20 to her organization so they can keep yelling at me

Sorry, but can you clarify what part of Jason's tweet involved sending people anywhere? If people with large numbers of followers are unable to respectfully disagree with a quoted tweet for fear of what a small subset of asshats will do, is that not pretty stifling?

I didn't say he did it on purpose. A consequence of having an audience, especially an audience driven by your own strongly held opinions, means that even retweeting something, especially without adding context, carries consequences. This is a cost of that audience.
