Sorry, but can you clarify what part of Jason's tweet involved sending people anywhere? If people with large numbers of followers are unable to respectfully disagree with a quoted tweet for fear of what a small subset of asshats will do, is that not pretty stifling?

I didn't say he did it on purpose. A consequence of having an audience, especially an audience driven by your own strongly held opinions, means that even retweeting something, especially without adding context, carries consequences. This is a cost of that audience.

I agree, but if him pointing out that he even donated to these folks doesn't provide enough context to ward off attacks by followers, I'm not sure even a handwritten note wrapped around a brick flying through a window at Mach 20 would give enough context to dissuade idiots.
