You should have a tool, 'sdl-config' or 'sdlconfig' in the path after installing the SDL dev libraries (if memory serves), run it with something like --libs (check --help, I really can't remember the exact details) and the output of that shows what the linker flags need to be
Seems like the correct linker flags are being used, in that case. Weirder and weirder.

hmm... Linker flag order wrong somehow, maybe? Worth trying to link manually and seeing if you can get that to work, then altering the build scripts in accordance? Man I hate build systems :p
