Despite never having had one, I'm convinced that mince pies are the best food ever invented. They've got meat, and they've got pastry, what's not to like? And if you're the vegan or vegetarian type, you can use tofu and a bunch of spices for the savoury part of it. Woo!

Fair enough. I think it's one of those things that's mostly an emotional memory response trigger so if it's not a thing you had as a child (and therefore associate the flavour with Christmas) they probably suck!
It's not even Christmas pastries really, it's simply anything that involves what amounts to cooked fruit. I'll make an allowance for certain jams, but generally, warm fruit is a one-way ticket to gag city for me.

Yep, whenever my mom would make it I'd steal as many slices of fresh apple dusted in cinnamon and sugar as I could, prior to them being ruined. Not knocking her cooking in any way, everyone else loved it, but just not my thing.
