@BeckieRGB You wouldn't happen to have any info on how the GPIOs are hooked up on VSmile, would you? Seems like it uses one or more bits to determine cart presence, though I could be wrong.

Right on the money, thanks! Sadly it looks like there's something amiss with my address decoding, because the games themselves boot directly to a legal screen (no VSmile animation), and repeatedly loop on that screen, infinitely fading in over and over. :(
