Essentially, (almost?) every Sun SBus card has a ROM on it in order to contain, at a minimum, an identifying word that the boot monitor reads to ID the card. More typically, they also include firmware and other data, much like many ISA cards do.

All I have is one of the 8-bit color video cards, which I assume are very common

Is it accelerated or unaccelerated? If it's the unaccelerated 'cgthree' board, we've already got that one - but thank you! :)

I will endeavour to remember this when I get my gear back out of storage, I have quite a few SBus cards in there.
-
Great to hear! For what it's worth, it's possible to dump an SBus card's firmware through the boot monitor on a SPARCstation, so no need for desoldering, or even owning a ROM reader.

Yes indeed! That appears to be an SBus controller we don't emulate yet, or even have dumped. Are you able to desolder and read out the 27C64 that's in the upper-left there?

I have a few left, mostly framebuffers and NICs. I'll make a list and get back to you. Do you know about the "rescue" mailing list at
@mrbill's http://sunhelp.org ? -
I'm not familiar with the mailing list, no. From a quick glance, it looks like it might be a good thing to be part of! Also, thank you for your kind offer.
