A thought I've had regarding the whole "you don't look autistic" thing - is there anyone else on the spectrum who feels like you (the reader, not the royal 'you') *can* visibly see if a person is on the spectrum, but can't quite put into words how? #AskingAutistics @NeuroRebel

I have to admit that there does often seem to be a look that I can see in pictures without even knowing the person. We probably are all distantly related, yeah?

Yes, definitely. I think if we actually studied how autistic people interaction with each other (& is just starting to happen) we'd find pretty common autistic body language between us, esp. in terms of how our gaze is. I often know when people are anxious & others don't see it.

I kind of wonder if it has to do with a difference (or lack in) micro-expressions of the face. Maybe we often mask facial expressions, so do not have the same muscles activated as non-autistics when they display their socially-motivated facial expressions.
