Grammar question: If you are talking about someone who has retired from their career, but is still alive. Do you refer to them as "is" or "was"? For example: Steve was a football player/Steve is a football player. Saying "was" seems to imply that they're dead :S

Was. I *was* an EA employee. I *was* an Activision employee. I *was* an Autodesk employee. I *was* a Mojang employee. I *was* a King employee. I *am* a developer at a different studio these days, but meanwhile, I *am* a software developer regardless.
If I retire from software development, then I "am a retired software developer".
