    Today is the 4th anniversary of the death of our beloved son Matthew. It is more wrenching than ever. As I think of him, I also am thinking of others I know who have lost children, the most difficult of all losses. Hug your kids close today. Life is so very fragile.

    I’m willing to bet there’s a healthy number of lawmakers who don’t know that federal contractors NEVER get paid after a shutdown. Many members just assume, like their staff, that everyone eventually gets paid.
