I think you need to reread my tweet. 1. Stealing mail is something the DA can prosecute. See Penal Code Sec 530.5(e), which is state, not federal law. 2. I said stealing mail can be serious bc oftentimes it leads to identity theft (also wi the purview of the DA)

Now just to explain things, mail theft fall within the same general penal code section as identity theft (ask yourself logically why someone would steal mail). That assumption put to the side, there are different subsections delineated. Mail theft is a separate crime that the DA

Also did you see the New Yorker article? SFPD is at about 2% arrest rate, and they let the Walgreens thief go at least once prior to the video, partly Walgreens wouldn’t press charges. That New Yorker article is a big win for justice reform.

If that article is a big win, “justice reform” is in big trouble. Boudin looks like the arrogant, selfish, unqualified leader that he is.
