Surely a conservative principle should be that voters are not punished for the failures of their government (here an actively sabotaged USPS slowing mail delivery during an election) I mean, if conservatives in 2020 actually had principles...https://twitter.com/baseballcrank/status/1322011819725250561 …

Any rule, any deadline, by its nature excludes. Those who believe courts should never countenance exclusion will always argue that any rule whatsoever is the suppression of votes. https://twitter.com/AndyGrewal/status/1321490702786826245 …

Surely also a conservative principle should be sticking with the established rules, rather than changing them

The idea that a person’s failure to get their ballot submitted on time is the fault of the USPS (or, by your implication, Trump) does not hold up to scrutiny.

Ramping up vote by mail this fast is a fantasy.

On the other hand, people could go to drop off boxes and ensure their ballots were timely received. You want to cheat and hide behind a bogus charge of USPS sabotage.

People should absolutely be punished by the failures of their government. If it happens enough, they might start being serious about their obligations as citizens. Maybe they'll stop electing people who can't run a mail service or an election.
