They're going to want to shut this down before more of the victims and/or witnesses break omerta and say #MeToo
and drag all that stuff from 35 years ago out into the light. At least, that's my speculation, FWIW (probably not much).

I can imagine that there are lots and lots of people right now who were at those parties who are on the phone with their lawyers, or they're on the phone with their contacts in DC yelling "I don't care what the Federalist Society wants. MAKE THIS STOP. NOW."

Seriously, stick a fork in him. My money is that he's done by EOD today, even. I think Avenatti is shortly gonna add another scalp to his wall.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. Assuming this phenomenon is real, then if it were a barrier to passing a bg check whole professional networks in DC would look completely different & be drawn from different feeder schools.https://twitter.com/JayKlos/status/1044991155006369792 …

Yeah, maybe. But there is actually a sociological literature around this particular phenomenon, especially as it relates to status and power. It's not an urban legend. https://twitter.com/AgentW45/status/1044997342997426176 …

Yeah bro, it totally is. Hundreds of really well-connected lives. If this is a total snipe hunt then whatevs. But IMO the balance of probabilities says it isn't, so that plus your point equals this thread.https://twitter.com/chadfelixg/status/1045002586817015809 …

Chad Felix GreeneVerified account @chadfelixg10 parties? How many young men waited 'in line' to gang rape? 3? 5? More? This is 30 to 50 or more young men accused of rape. How about the drugs? Who helped them? How many witnesses? How many people were involved? This is a massive accusation impacting hundreds of lives.4 replies 1 retweet 22 likesShow this thread -

Think this through. Is #1 really that implausible? "Hey journo, while we're chatting about Brett, lemme tell you that I was at these parties where 'lineups' went on & I never did anything about it. Actually, let me just burn my whole alumni network..."https://twitter.com/politicalmath/status/1044985735625891840 …
Jon Stokes added,
PoliMath @politicalmathI'm really angry about this latest allegation because either: 1) journalists have talked to dozens, maybe hundreds, of people in the last few weeks who knew about frequent gang rape & maintained coordinated silence 2) This is a false accusation Those are our 2 horrifying options1 reply 3 retweets 38 likesShow this thread -

The prep school networks where the drunken sexual assaults were allegedly the norm weren't partisan. So I wouldn't necessarily count on the Dems to rush in here with a big investigation even if a blue wave takes DC, because it might catch them too.https://twitter.com/mjwyman/status/1045080266312568832 …

Sexual misconduct is pretty much a bipartisan affair...but as of late, taking responsibility seems to only occur within one party.
