Dr. Oz had like -35 favorability rating coming out of the primary and McCormick still lost. He’s a bad candidate and his bio and record are toxic for the PA electorate.

Beware: Grifter PACs are back.
If you want to support your favorite candidates, the best thing you can do is give DIRECTLY to those candidates.

Important reminder that thanks to many of you, your newest U.S. Senator from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is *not* a Giants fan.

1) The first mistake from the PA GOP establishment: assuming the rest of the field is going to act rationally and clear it all for him. Good luck with that.
2) Playbook against him is simple. Hedge fund CEO, lived in CT, etc. Go for the jugular. He's still weak from last year.

Several top PA Republicans are hoping Dave McCormick - with his name ID, bio and personal wealth - will run for Senate again in 2024, and possibly help avoid the kind of messy primary that hurt them last year:

I think we all forget just how nasty the PA GOP primary was in 2022. This pro-Oz super PAC spot ran in January of a May primary and was an ad you'd typically see in October of a general election youtube.com/watch?v=3s7RSn

He should just try moving somewhere else and running there. Seems pretty simple.

If you know you're not going to applaud, then the only reason to attend is to draw attention to your refusal to applaud. You know going in virtually everyone else will be giving a standing ovation

Boebert and Gaetz have remained seated and are not applauding, even as Democrats and Republicans seated all around them give Z several standing ovations.

Some fun facts:
1) this cycle is the first time every Senate incumbent has won in over 100 years
2) last time party controlling the White House picked up a Senate seat? 1962.

Had a great time on this podcast. For all the people who read Swing State Project in the early days of online politics, it's cool to see how much the ecosystem has grown, now including a very cool podcast. Give this (and their future episodes) a listen!

We had a blast recording this week's episode of The Downballot with @_joshwolf—Dem strategist, ad guy, and campaign budget master. His conclusion on why Democrats did so well this year: They ran really good campaigns. Listen here --> player.captivate.fm/episode/5517a3

What is the BEST television show (new or returning) you watched in 2022? You can only name one. No lists, no ties, no parentheticals. One show to rule them all. Any genre. Just had to air new episodes this year.

Former PA GOP Senate hopeful Kathy Barnette had some choice words for Carla Sands, who she faced in this year's primary.
In an email to supporters this AM, Barnette accused Sands of making an "unprovoked attack" against her on Twitter + said Sands is "out of touch with reality."

Mizzou is 6-1 against Arkansas the last seven seasons.
Arkansas fans may be right, this isn't a rivalry.
Rivalires are supposed to be competitive.

I've touched on this before here but PA Rs are really worried about how suburbs seem to be so solidly shifting against them.
Here's the % won by Toomey in 16 vs Oz in 22 in the Philly collar counties:
Bucks: 52 - 45
Chester: 49 - 40
Delaware: 43 - 35
Montgomery: 44 - 35

This can’t be right. Several very confident Twitter accounts told me that Dems were completely ignoring these issues and it would be their downfall.
