I couldn’t imagine a more fun NPR Podcast debut than to join Linda abd to talk about FLOOR IS LAVA (Magma?) on !
Quote Tweet
You guys ... FLOOR IS LAVA. We covered it. And it was really fun, and brand new panelist @TheJCHoward is so good, and Stephen and I did the intro in our best Rutledge Wood voices. npr.org/2020/07/14/890

If you read this far, thanks (but also, barf…am I right? What an after school special). I guess I wonder what this god-forsaken app would look like if we all just admitted, when we don’t have our shit together. Lord knows I’m still working on it. 7/7

Who knows which posts I’ll look back on in another 10 years and cringe? This one? Maybe…I hope not. But I guess what I learned when I saw it in my FB ‘memories’ is that if I was more humble back then, I probably would have thought twice before I said it. 6/7

To allow those things to go unchallenged would be to side with injustice. So then, what IS all of this for? It’s me saying out loud, (to myself?) to pursue justice & be merciful, but also be humble. I thought I had the answers back then the same way I think I have them now. 5/7

To be clear this is also NOT a plea to “try to understand” people that say things that are downright hateful. There is NO reason to try to understand things that are racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-semitic, homophobic, ableist…ignorant. 4/7

But I DO have to acknowledge that a vast majority of people with whom I disagree today have the capacity for humanity. And to be sure, I was not a child when I wrote this thing, I was 23 years old. (Which is young for sure, but old enough to be accountable for my words) 3/7

Obviously part of getting older is growing and changing, and I’m glad that I was shocked by my words because it means I’m a different person. Now, to be clear, please don’t read this as virtue signaling. I don’t deserve praise for literally just being humane. 2/7

🚨Earnest thread alert🚨: Facebook just reminded me that on this day almost 10 years ago, I wrote something that was at best “problematic” and at worst further marginalizing an already abused group of people. I saw it today and almost couldn’t believe it was ME who wrote it. 1/7

When I was in college, some of my friends and I would skip class to watch “Batman: The Animated Series” (which we called ‘educational crime prevention videos’). You should skip work to listen to , , & I talk about !

Is the smart, funny, and hella queer HARLEY QUINN the best thing the DCU has going for it right now? Glen, JC Howard and Cyrena Touros lay out a pretty convincing case: npr.org/2022/08/15/111

Not gonna lie, I’d love a few group chats to send my hot takes to…add me to yours!

Group chats, writes @HannahSung, are her saving grace: “I appreciate how, in the apocalyptic landscape of our algorithmically juiced culture wars, a group chat is a refuge where my ideas and thoughts don’t have to be fully formed and battle ready.” nyti.ms/3peWuDY

Hear me out though, I think gun violence against children (and laughing at it) *might* be worse than an F-bomb in mixed company.

Voters like to see a sense of authenticity in candidates, especially in Texas. But cursing and vulgar language in front of children and the elderly more often than not crosses the line. n.pr/3pb6WfI

As someone who was born in to the COGIC, it’s hard for me to see a world that is on fire, children being killed in schools, basic rights being stripped away, an empire that refuses to reckon with it’s history. And this “man-d of God” taking his time to talk about Beyonce?

Trump soured on generals who he thought should be loyal like he thought Hitler's officers were. “You fucking generals, why can’t you be like the German generals?” Trump demanded. "Which generals?" John Kelly asked. "The German generals in World War II," Trump said.

Gotta dust off my Comm degrees to appreciate the rhetorical devices in this clip. 1. He starts by humbly saying “we don’t know.” 2. Then he lays out the potential legal path (in full jargon). 3. And ends with a very clear message on what it all means. Pathos, Ethos, & Logos

Attorney who just won his lawsuit vs Alex Jones: “There is going to be a large set of plaintiffs dividing up the corpse of Infowars. … That could get very, very dangerous for Mr. Jones, because there is going to be a new level of financial scrutiny.”

I think I’m ready to be a father. I’m not responsible or anything, but I made a really bad joke to a person at the Farmers Market. Soooo…

One of the really interesting things about this is how there are folks who are kind of pro-solar…but don’t want solar farms it in their neighborhood. What happens when “Not In My Backyard” is applied to the SUN?!
Quote Tweet
SPECIAL EPISODE: with @insideclimate, we meet two families at the heart of the solar energy conflict in one rural community: the Scheins have signed a deal to put solar panels on their farmland, while the Barneses are leading the charge against solar in the county. LINKS 👇

Today is the Feast Day of Mary Magdalene. And we need to meet her again for the first time. dianabutlerbass.substack.com/p/mary-the-tow
I know this is hard for many Christians, but people don’t NEED Jesus. You may need Jesus, that’s ok, that doesn’t mean everyone else does. Believing that you know what others NEED is both supremacy in you and wildly disrespectful of others.

This will be a sort of sacrificial act on her part, but it will undo many of the deaths in Hawkins (maybe we'll see **SPOILER REDACTED** again after their heroic S.4 death AND *finally* get justice for Barb). Glad to go into detail & I'm available for comment upon request. 2/2

Tweeting my Stranger Things Season 5 prediction now that way if it comes true, it's here for bragging rights, and if not, no one will remember. Prediction: There will be some sort of time travel element, where and El will have to undo Vecna's (and her own?) creation... 1/2
