It's awful and terrible to watch and be unable to help, but in the end, you can't make someone accept help. Sometimes the best you can do is help pick up the pieces when/if it all falls apart.
He has got it in his head that he can't ever accept help. My friends and I are at our wits end. We desperately want to help him in any way we can because we've WATCHED the old school destroy his soul but he Just! Won't! Listen!

Yeah, it’s mostly because he’s afraid of change and it’s easier (since he could commute there). However, he’s also forgetting just how bad it was, it’s worrying
