I agree with this analysis on a "actually thinking about the world as a real place" perspective. I also feel like this has never been the official perspective. Until pandaria, the world had like 4 farms.

Oh absolutely, the realism in in-game WoW in the farm-department has always been lacking (how the heck do they get enough food in Durotar??). I extrapolated Azeroth to be more realistic for this article. It’ll definitely never be official lore but it is fun to think about!

I still need to read this, but have you taken into account that nobody actually grows grain on Azeroth? Apparently punpkins are the only agricultural product outside Pandaria. Which may contribute to bread shortages. Mages can't conjure mana buns for the entire population.
-
Nah, there’s definitely grain production on Azeroth, see Westfall and the prevalent Harvest Reapers throughout many zones. However, you’re definitely onto something with the mage conjuration problem!

Better than WoD's "we're fighting each other because Harrison Jones did um.....something?" Caveat: I haven't read your post yet.

My conspiracy theory- I mean *blog post* is a million times better than any Harrison Jones plotline!

Cool read! I'm pretty sure this is 100% more interesting & plausible than whatever "bluh bluh Old Gods" reason Blizz will end up giving us.
-
Thank ya! I won’t lie, I’m definitely a sucker for Old God Corruption
storylines but I think it’s also really fascinating when people do extraordinary things for ordinary reasons

Ok, I've actually read the article now! It would put the conflict over Pandaria in new light: shortly after the Cataclysm we discover a new continent that has some incredibly fertile land.
-
Oh most definitely! I didn’t want to venture much into other expansions outside of BfA but that could have been a huge impetus for our invasion of Pandaria
