Time to work on my résumé!
*remembers that all my my work experiences thus far - outside of being a freelance artist - have been unpaid volunteer work and thus don't count for job experiences*

Just my opinion, but I think that volunteer work absolutely counts as work experience. Just because you weren't paid doesn't make it irrelevant or non-applicable.

You're in college, people aren't going to be expecting a long corporate history. Volunteer stuff absolutely counts as experience.

You can absolutely put that on a resume. Volunteer work especially. Other thing can go under “freelancing”
