      Someone else would be a better guide for this, but usually if you hammer on F1 or F2 or F5 or F10 or something, instead of attempting to load the OS it will go to the BIOS menu. From there, you can tell it to boot from a USB or DVD drive, if you have a recovery disc.

          that is indeed a BIOS. now go to boot and .. actually I don't know what drew planned next. this is where the bootable USB stick would happen

          Have been DMing, but I think she could use a USB boot drive made from the Windows 10 Installation Media Creation Tool on another comp to get things going. Probably best to consult someone who knows more near where she lives. Fortunately, laptops are really portable!
