    Took me longer to appreciate Hicks. Had to live enough to relate to him. The agony and disappointment at those around him for not seeing the big picture. Look up hicks vs hecklers. No jokes, just genuine, seething hatred. That man was a saint of sincerity and a legendary soldier.

    So much of Carlin's act has been ripped off it lessens the impact of the original. Still i always welcome the comparison. The stuff of his that holds up best is his wordplay and general eloquence. His "Modern Man" bit is one of my favorites.
