You're 55 years late. Check the Equal Pay Act of 1963.

The Equal Pay Act only requires companies to offer base salaries of the same degree. This does not include negociated salaries, where men get higher wages and women lose job offers.
-
The wage gap is perpetuated by a societal view of women. How they SHOULD BE caretakers, how they HAVE to take more time off to take care of their children while their spouses stay at work. Women wanting to work are still told they aren’t doing their duties as women.
-
Also I love you even if we don't agree on all these kinds of issues

-
Well DUH I love you too, I just like to talk about these things

You do equal work, you get equal pay.
-
Umm. No—Whether in non-profit or for profit sector. I accidentally was sent the salary list for an organization where I worked. I was shocked to see that a senior woman of color with a PhD and a heavy workload was being paid less than half of a younger white “Golden boy” without.
-
I have never seen this in my life. I have never been paid more per hour than a female co-worker doing the same job.
-
Care to share the organization that did this? If this is true I will fight right beside you. What this organization is doing is illegal and needs to be brought to the attention of the authorities.
-
Right.
-
So rather than actually try to fix the issue your going to complain on Twitter use some hashtags and protect organizations that are breaking the law? That makes no sense. Unless you were lying...
-
Clearly you do not understand the ramifications for a variety of people by doing that. So you can accuse me of lying because it is a convenient way to dismiss the issue and data as bogus. Done w/this conversation. BTW I also worked in a factory where people were paid differently.
-
If it's true the law is on your side. Your employer cannot discipline you for this. Even so the worst thing they can do is fire you. You can't expect change if you're not willing to fight for it.
