I'm sure some find it funny but how much grief would a straight person get doing an "oh, gay people" segment? It would most cause outrage in the gay community.

It's all about systems and structures of power an oppression buddy.
-
So you think I'm being oppressive? Just want to clarify.
-
Nope. Gay people picking on straight people is not equivalent to straight people picking on gay people because the power balance bx the 2 groups in unequal. Cannot view one group who has been oppressed and another who did the oppressing as equal and balanced in power.
-
You, as an individual are not being oppressive (at least I hope and assume), but as a straight man, you belong to a group and structure that has oppressed gay people throughout history.
-
I belong to no group, I am a straight man that has a sister who is gay that I love her and her partner. I have served with those who are gay. I just don't like the it's ok for the quote "oppressed" groups to make fun of the others but don't you dare say a word about them.
-
Those are all great and admirable groups, but you can't claim that you don't belong to a group. You might not value your membership but it matters in the broader social context. In-group/out-group dynamics have been well researched in psychology.
-
All that I'm trying to say is that homophobic jokes are violent and acting on systems of historical oppression. Gay people punching up and making fun of their oppressors (again, not individual oppressors) is not the same

I'm sorry but this is the first time I've ever actually disagreed with something you've done. Couldn't have said "oh silly people"? If say
@oprah did it as "oh gay people" you'd b up in arms! Shame on you! -
and your tweet also gets you added to... "oooh straight people".
-
Boo hooooo straight people don't like being singled out "oh straight people"

Hey I have supported the gay community since birth, in the rain and everything. Go check my YouTube dreamerjs to see that you don’t want to lump me in a group. I feel this was insensitive. Don’t make assumptions on me. U don’t know me.
-
Have you ever laughed at a gay joke or a trans joke? SNL, Comicview, just about any comedian that wore a dress and pretended to be trans? If so lighten up as we are told daily.
-
No. I don't watch SNL. I don't think pretending to be trans is funny. What the hell is comicview? As I've said don't assume to know me. Ever heard the saying on assumptions? Google it. I've supported the gay community my entire life. U don't know me.

Ok if you didn't laugh at Jim Carrey in Living Color you may be a saint. Have your holy way down the yellow brick road.

I think it’s ok....as long as you do other segments called...oh gay ppl...oh black ppl...oh white ppl....oh old ppl...oh millennials.... and so on. Gotta include everyone or no one. Love the show, but this segment, not so much.
