Possibly because parenthood brings on opposite expectations of men and women. Men INCREASE their work load to meet their expectations as a parent. Women cut or eliminate theirs to concentrate on said parenthood.

That makes no sense. By the way - studies show that men are also more likely to take up a hobby after kids.

Your narrative about 'child penalty' is appalling. Why not change the narrative to an investment in the future. After all it is future of mankind that we have a productive workforce going forward. For that we need proper family supports to encourage the investment in children.

This is a very one dimensional report. It does not consider that some women stay home to take care of the kids while the men go to work. If the roles are reversed in any home, would the statistics reflect this pattern? A man who cannot provide financially is seen as weak etc.

Women earn less because they need to take care of the child. Men earn more to provide for the lack of income from the women but also spend more because of the new child.

"Men’s earnings are largely unaffected by parenthood." So men don't have to provide for the family? Like food, housing, bills etc??? XD WOW!!! When did this happen? XD XD XD
