How about supporting policies over identity politics?pic.twitter.com/kXFwJnPTYi

All I am hearing is vote body parts. What about #MedicareForAll #LivingWage #VotingRights #Education #cleanwater Plans for 2018 & 2020 Platform, Democratic Primaries, ERA, #BLM, How about working for the American Working Families instead of trying to use groups in elections?
Yeah. Just what we need. More wealthy neocons/neolibs with a "public position" and a "private position". Both the DNC and RNC have a fondness for identity politics to hide their allegiance to Wall Street.
Well it is pretty embarrassing to pretend to be tough on Wall Street while simultaneously being the largest recipient of their bribes, I mean donations.pic.twitter.com/BETzhfLTE3
What a novel idea! They would probably win.
Yeah #OwnedTogether says nothing about winning. Winning would require them to drop the massive victim complex.
Hmmm... no Christian women? Guess they might not fit the agenda. Your inability to mention them is deafening.
The vast majority of our current leadership is Christian. The idea here is to get more representation for those who have little to none in our current government. Don’t look for conspiracies where there are none.
That's identity politics. It's all about what group you belong to instead of universal principles. I'd vote for a nominally "Muslim" (or whatever) woman if she had her head screwed on right and was libertarian/conservative. You guys just see people as token identities.
...everything I've said in here has been said with the idea that, ideally, we won't have to see identity, we can see policy. But as long as the government remains as-is, we have to fight first to include more identities before we can have a level playing field.
How are these identities going to level the playing field? In what ways is it not level?
So it can't be level while those biases are in place. Progress is being made, but until people can see the results of electing a gay, a Muslim, or whatever, they will continue to distrust their ability to govern effectively. They need a boost to get to their seat at the table.
So we need Muslims, or atheists, in office so that they, too, can "govern" us? And what will they do differently that we need them to do? I know for example that even American Muslims are far more likely to say homosexuality itself should be illegal.
1/2 Then they wouldn't be any different from the current crop of Republicans who fight against any gains the LGBT community receives. Maybe more atheists will mean a crackdown on politics in the pulpit? More Muslims could mean reforms for immigrants.
