Good Muslims don’t get radicalized into terrorists? Good people haven’t been poisoned by the toxic lies of hatred?

Terrorists are not good people, no. Neither are incels. We are responsible for our actions, including what we choose to feed our brains. The good news is that every day, we can all decide to be better people than we were the day before.

That’s a highly privileged way to think, I think. People only know what they are taught and are not born with the tools to teach themselves and so start with a leg up or a weight depending on who taught them their initial worldview
-
Of course we hold individuals responsible for their actions, but not examining the systemic causes of these issues strikes me as misguided

Especially when I believe the alt right is largely a phenomenon created by this exact disconnect between media and cultural perceptions of masculinity and feminism

We've all got baggage. We've all done things we're not proud of. But most of us have the internet, so we could educate ourselves if we choose to do so. In fact, MRA and incel sites only exist there. Men who have access to them also have access to more factual and better sources.
-
We're aware of the systemic causes. The only way to fight it is to continually call out these acts for what they are: awful, bad, terrible. MRA and incel advocates want to be coddled and sympathized with and I will not. They use any sympathy they get as a weapon.

Men who feel entitled to the attention of women are the problem here. The patriarchy is the systemic cause of incel and MRA groups. Well, we're out here fighting the patriarchy as hard as we can. We get it.
