The biggest culprits will be your own family and friends. For the most part, they do this because they don't want to see you get hurt, fall on your face, or end up ashamed. So they attempt to smother your hopes and dreams, to make you stay down.

Next will be your friends, the ones who aren't really friends but you spend a lot of time together because of proximity or because they get validation from you. "You've changed." "You only think about success now." They want you to stay miserable. Like them. Forever.

This is why your reason for success needs to be something stronger than everything you've ever known before. The future. Your children. Your heir. The people you'll help. The world you want to create. You need a goal beyond esteem, fame, and approval. Because you'll be spat on.

Get rid of people that try to hold you back.....or hold you down. Just like the crabs in the bucket that try to pull escapees back down they will pull you down because they are afraid or jealous. Either way, bad company.
