Who do you want to be there? Wife? Kids? A harem of 20-somethings? Your cyborg clone? Seriously, what relationships matter enough to be there at your funeral? That tells you who to invest in for your entire life. Do you want them healthy and together as a family when you die?

Where does your estate go? Who inherits, and how much? You’ll need to build that estate and inheritance and train them to be ready for it. Sudden money can destroy your kids if you don’t plan for it.

What do you want people to say about you? That you embodies courage and compassion for others in need? Or that you were always too anxious to stand up when it counted? Live a life that leaves an echoing example.

Once you figure out who you want to be there, the legacy you want to leave, and the life you want to have lived... ... You make a 20 year plan to reach it. Then a 10 year plan. A 5. A 1. A 1-month. A 1-week. Then a 1-day. Then you live that plan and adapt it as you go.

No, thank you, I rather live a step or two at a time than pretend that I can predict what I am about to like near my funeral. I will end up the same place as others anyway. Life is more random than one thinks and is to be enjoyed piece by piece.

I have found that trying to make a life plan keeps me locked into something that I may not want. Personally, I have been guilty of running this process out of fear of not mattering, rather than the joy of being. Joy requires no outcome, no legacy, no big funeral.

You’re exactly right. Running a plan to avoid bad outcomes will not get you where you actually want to be. Designing toward joy is precisely the method. I built a system to do that. 1-hour video course. My email list subscribers get it for free. http://eepurl.com/dur-jb
