“Good” and “evil” are (sometimes) useful concepts. But they aren’t real... Nothing is ACTUALLY “good” or “evil.” Those are just words your brain pastes onto reality. Things are just what they are. If more of us understood this, the world would be less violent.

This gray morality is precisely calculated to allow dehumanization and brutality toward one's rivals If there is no good or evil, violence is not inherently wrong Therefore, all violence toward all targets is acceptable Only selfishness determines what is right

I wonder if they believe that being against gay marriage or not using someone’s preferred pronouns is also not “evil”. Somehow I doubt it.

The concept of evil allows people to dehumanize anyone they label as evil though.

That's only true if the concept of evil were intrinsically tied to beings instead of actions. It's not. The solution to your problem isn't to erase the concept of good/evil, but to clarify what they define. Besides, if good/evil don't exist then dehumanization is neutral.

And then he goes on to say that genocide is evil. But it’s still just our brains imprinting on reality or some such. Because he won’t come out and follow his line of reasoning to its actual conclusion like you did.

If good and evil are merely social constructs, then might makes right and I can do whatever I want so long as I'm the strongest/most capable. I'm sure we've seen this ideology played out somewhere... 🤔
