:-( What about a disney princess who cleans dishes and takes care of children. ...and gets rescued by a prince. Sigh. CS Lewis is right. It's ugly when women fight.

I mean I'm writing a Princess who would like to do both of those things. Sadly an evil overlord took away her home. But don't worry she's helping her husband solve that problem.

I am all for solving problems, but I have sons. I keep thinking...if princesses rescue themselves, what do princes do?

Well, writers just need to remember that it is okay for not everyone to do the same thing. Arwen supported Aragon from Rivendell while Luthien went on the quest with Beren. Not every girl needs to be Eowyn. Sadly current culture fears being "disempowering." to women.

Right. Honestly, any kind of character can be good if well written. But, as someone who once cheered "strong female characters", I'm kind of tired of them. ;-)

Part of the problem is the systematic neutering of past heroic male characters:https://adamlanesmith.com/2020/09/20/the-scheduled-murder-of-mens-entertainment/ …

Don't worry the future heroic male characters won't be neutered. At least mine won't.
