It didn't sit right with me to tell my kids Santa's a holy figure who watches their actions and weighs their deeds, and will reward them for their kindnesses And then say "LOL just kidding he's not real, I'm a liar, but this other guy Jesus is totally real, trust me this time"
I am respectfully curious: Are both of you from Christian families but now atheists?

I was raised Christian, yes. I wouldn't say I am an atheist, though. I think I'm kind of more Agnostic with some leaning towards the Christian beliefs I grew up with at the same time.

I didn't quite grow up in a "Christian family". My parents never really were religious. My read the Bible a few times. I became seriously interested in religion during my teens. And you know the rest of the story.

I do indeed, my friend.
My point is, as someone who takes their religion extremely seriously, our views are gonna differ hard in where the line is. And the last thing I want to do is water down that faith like a lot of parents do and pass on a confused version to my kids. - Show replies
