#1 - I like the sound of that. #2 - I want to find out more about LitRPG. Perhaps I shall research.

Thanks! I think I remember him saying it has something to do with matching video game rules, but I don’t know exactly what those rules are.

Pretty wide range of possibility. A lot of LitRPG includes explicit stat blocks in the text and talk of levels, experience, gear, etc.

Interesting. It looks like this is relatively new. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LitRPG

The base idea has been around for quite some time (see Dungeons and Dragons novelizations, etc) but that was more Gamelit. Making the stats and video game elements more explicit to appeal to GenZs and Millennials is obviously as new as their entering the fiction audience

The Japanese audience definitely took to it incredibly hard and boosted the genre’s rise thought light novels and anime, but the West has a thriving and obsessive market niche

The West niche has been invaded by male harem authors looking for fertile genres to spread into, though, much to the chagrin of core LitRPG fans. It’s bloated the genre and diluted their ability to find non-harem material

Would you say that non-harem LitRPG has low competition then?
