Amused by the reminder I got listening to these lectures on Arthuriana that the Normans were just another group of northern pirates and raiders like the Anglo-Saxons, but once they settled down they decided to become French.

The lilting Welsh accent is the best accent in the whole of the Anglo-sphere. Better than the Irish brogue, the Scottish burr, the Southern drawl, and whatever the h*ck you call the things that Canadians and Australians have. Fight me.
