Voluntary poverty might be, but yes, just because someone is poor doesn’t mean they are virtuous. We unfortunately also live in an age where, as Chesterton pointed out, there are a lot of people talking about the vices of the poor, and not so many about the vices of the rich.

But simplicity and distancing from unhealthy material obsession are. Clearing this up more frequently would put an end to a lot of false dichotomies, like marxism or the "religion is a scheme" stereotype.
