I always find it weird in isekai when the protagonist's (who supposedly has Japanese sensibilities) first thoughts on slavery isn't "Slavery is wrong" but "I need to buy a slave cuz I'm lacking party members." Can't you just ask another adventurer to join your party?

I honestly don't care too much, but I always found it jarring how isekai protagonists are almost always "Yay! Let's buy a slave!" and the issue is never really addressed. And of course the slave always just happens to be the cutest girl in the series.

Sounds like writers who just want the trope but are too lazy to address it in a way that would make sense given the type of character they're writing.

To sum it up: nobody in Asia ever fought a civil war to end it

Lol. Could be. Someone in a light novel once mentioned how all Japanese are essentially corporate slaves.
