My son got me watching the Fiji Eco Challenge. There are teams with both father and son participating. It's inspiring. One father with his 18-yr-old who is the youngest on the course The other is a veteran racer with Alzheimer's whose son joined to have one last race with dad

(Maybe you’ll even live a father/child action story and write one together.)

PLEASE. Books are the only place my son and I can read stories about whole families, unlike the universal disney model of broken homes, orphans, patricide/matricide being the prerequisite for magical forces to intercede. Good old Encyclopedia Brown (oof, his dad is a cop!)

I've had this idea of having a mecha story where the father sacrifices himself for his deluded son.
