I apprenticed under a HARD couples therapist. Didn’t give 2 cents what ANYONE thought. “We’ve only been together ten minutes and you already make ME want to leave. Why are you still together?” Embarrassed looks. “Are we really that bad?” “Horrible. You think this is okay?”

Lots of people go to therapy, hoping for validation from an “official source”, for their behaviour. They aren’t really there to explore how THEY can be better. There’s definitely usefulness in busting thru that.
