Right now the choices are to work privately and spend double your hours on paperwork or to work for a clinic and surrender 50% of all payments in exchange for being freed from the massive paperwork burden. Either way, you make half your hourly rate.

For anyone who’s wondering, it currently takes 6 years of college and then 3 years of apprenticeship to become a therapist. Many places won’t hire you prior to that license because insurances pay even less. And you pay about $8k out of pocket for supervision.

The opportunity is unregulated personal coaching on the Internet for twice the pay. A lot of therapists are canceling their licenses and switching over.
