Not one person will tell you that kids need a big house and tons of stuff more than they need love and attention. Yet the majority of American fathers escalate their work to increase their earnings at the expense of kids who grow up not knowing their own father. What about you?

This happens because it become a competition amongst parents of who gave more expensive gifts and parties. It’s the egos of the parents that drive this and has nothing to do woth the kids.

It’s also an autopilot response to fear-mongering from parents and grandparents, a hoarding mentality leftover from the Great Depression and Dust Bowl era. The calamities of the past shape us still and we don’t even know it.
