It's hard to abandon something around which one has built an identity. Alternatively, "feminism" provides a refuge for women who prioritized poorly and have missed opportunities by way of telling them they have been "cheated."

I knew someone who did not get married until late 30s. Had focused on ‘her career.’ Tried desperately to have a baby...rounds of drugs and such. For years. It didn’t work. After that she lost her mind...anxiety, changed personality, ended up in trouble with the law.
