Why is this even surprising? It's basically just an age chart. Gen-X has been growing wealth because they've gotten older. Millennials haven't gotten there yet. Silent is going down because they are dying, Gen-X and Boomers are inheriting.

I'd like to see this graph by age not by year. We would expect older people to have greater wealth.

Why? That snapshot over the last 25/30 years shows Silent gen retiring (wealth
)
Boomers getting to retirement (wealth
fast)
Gen X finally hitting their financial stride (wealth
moderate)
Millennials coming into adulthood. (wealth
slow) -
We should expect to see this. And, these are as a proportion of the wealth, not the amount of wealth. So, it's not like the younger groups are having a slower growth, but that they are slowly gaining more of a share of the total wealth.
