Putting you on the spot: Present company excepted, do you think most family counseling today is of dubious value?

Thanks, Bro!

Same goes with anyone you are paying to provide you with a service (doctor, lawyer, etc). Don’t settle. Demand someone that has your values and high standards. Move on if they don’t meet expectations.

Yeah, the first marriage counselor advised me & hubs to separate & said I was being a "princess" (not in a good way) when I didn't want to.
We had a toddler, I already felt half-abandoned and the other half was too exhausted to function, so how would that have helped?! O.o -
I remember them telling us in school that separations are often a good thing and necessary to help a couple get perspective. Separations are often the first tool in a therapist’s approach for that reason and can create so much chaos and hardship.
