My male friends with no kids: “I have to wait HOW much longer before I die?” My male friends with kids: “I only have HOW much longer before I die?” Purpose breeds urgency. Kids aren’t for everyone, but they certainly make life tremendously urgent by their very nature.
Relationships are the legacy you leave. Build those relationships, especially mentoring younger people or working on lasting benefits for others, like volunteering or serving in church or caring for people who genuinely need help.
Without kids, a man has to work a lot harder to find purpose and urgency in those later years. Otherwise years 60-90 are terrifying.
