This man was super involved with his grandson, they had an immense bond even before the kid hit 2 years old. He didn’t care for his health and now his grandson is looking for him and can’t understand that he’s gone.

I’ve been around death and had bad PTSD so I usually shrug off death pretty easily, sometimes I even forget that it makes people sad. I was good until my wife told me that the guy’s 16-month old grandson keeps going in his home office and calling, “Papa? Papa?” looking for him.

I bawled my eyes out when I heard that. So many of us think our life is about our pleasure and what makes us feel fulfilled, but it’s not. We live with a mission to provide for and set an inheritance for our descendants and those around us.

We will all die someday, but don’t leave your kids or grandkids bereft of your love and teaching for a stupid reason like being overweight or not getting a medical problem checked out. Remember that little confused kid calling for his papa and go take care of your health.

I don’t know whether to be happy that they might not remember it later or more sad. My nana died when I was four and one of my first memories is at her wake. They told me, “She’s sleeping with Jesus”.

My grandpa is 81 years old and I am 32, soon to be 33. I feel so incredibly blessed to still have him in my life. He’s my biggest supporter.
