You’re correct. Though I was incredibly disappointed when I saw how many “get off my lawn Government” people turned into “where’s my stimulus?” overnight. Many want personal freedom. Few want to take care of themselves.https://twitter.com/TheBrometheus/status/1271037395547222017 …

And in the moment, people panic. Then the dust settles and they can realize what they did and reapply themselves to their actual principles. You can’t despise a man for giving in to his fear once in an extreme circumstance. We all fall short. Most definitely myself.

It’s my hope that once the dust settles (it has already) priorities are shifted and there’s a movement to true personal freedom.

Any system designed for the genuine moral good of all. All functioning societies have a concept of the moral good and aim for it. This could be an honor code system, or just keeping family as the primary unit of the society and always focusing on what is best for the family.

Absolute individual freedom above all responsibility and morality does not create a lasting society. That false god is what leads to the dissolution of family as the core unit of society because family may hold an individual back.

But you cannot have a healthy family with sick individuals. Placing the family as the core unit in the society instead of the individual then demands each individual be allowed freedom to truly flourish within that moral framework. Fulfilled individuals make good families.

But there must be a unifying definition of what is morally good. Look at any nation and you will see their definitions. Tyrants have definitions which override the goodnof the family and individuals for the state. But not all greater good arguments lead to this evil.

Saying there is no true moral good and thus no morality to reach for and that each individual must pursue their own absolute freedom without regard for any other human being created exactly what we have now. That’s why we are where we are.

I disagree with you, but only because my definition of freedom in this context is being used differently.
