where in the bible does it say to pray to the Virgin Mary?

It does not say it in the Bible, you’re right. Since the earliest times the Church has held the Blessed Virgin to be the mother of the Church and Queen if Heaven as seen in the Book of Revelation, and while we do pray to her, it is absolute heresy to ever worship her.

Huge number of people take any questions about faith as an insult to that faith, mostly because they've never thought deeply about it & can't answer real questions about it.

I think also some are used to others being prickly about being “challenged”. Some, many Catholics included, bristle when confronted with skepticism and perhaps remember rude treatment at prior questionings.

What are your personal guidelines about writing about sexuality and other things that could be considered “gratuitous” or “titillation.” Anime-culture has this in plenty. Do you make the attempt to write to that culture and if so, what are your ethical guidelines?

I work hard never to glorify any sexual expression apart from what the Church teaches, which is, physical intimacy of a sexual nature is to take place only between man and wife and must involve the possibility of reproduction. Now mentioning of sexual aspects, yes, I do that.

I'm Lutheran. And I also have patron Saints that I pray to (odd, I know). Who are your patrons?

St. Bernard of Clairvaux is my primary.
