You can go to any profile and click the “...” button in the top right corner to select TURN OFF RETWEETS.
This still lets you see their quote-retweets with their comments but not the standard retweets, and keeps your timeline much cleaner.

I do this on every single account I follow. My timeline used to be 5 retweets from strangers for every post I saw from people I actually followed. This way I only see retweets when someone I follow has something to say about it and adds to the original tweet.

Does this block when someone retweets their own tweet? If so, this could explain the generally abysmal engagement I get when I retweet my own tweets.

All standard retweets that aren’t quote retweets get filtered out.
