My author colleagues poke fun at my big daily word counts, some playfully and some passive-aggressively. Bear in mind this is my 6th year of pursuing this craft with absolute obsession. I started off pleased to get 100 words in a day. I went months with nothing. But I practiced.

I make time to encourage new writers because we all start somewhere. But I’ve got zero time for sniveling troglodytes insecure about their own shortcomings and jealous of me (for whatever reason, all I’ve done is work hard at a skill just about anyone could learn).
