On top of the $4,000+ my wife has. And that’s just the deductibles. The total for both is actually around $14,000 for just the standard birth with zero complications. Why do we punish birth?

I’m no socialist. But there’s got to be a third solution besides “Give the State absolute power over health, life, and death” and “Charge infants $3k”.

US Healthcare system isn't capitalist. It's a corporate-regulatory quagmire that combines the worst elements of bureaucracy and profit motive.

When you get that bill, make sure you ask for an itemized list of what they're charging you for. Apparently, it's very common that they put a bunch of bs charges on there. If you ask for it, they'll usually take those off and your bill will go down.

That's insane, man. 6 kids would be almost $100k just in hospital bills at birth. No wonder people aren't having 12 kids anymore.

It’s irritating that the current healthcare debate is “keep a broken system vs. let the government run it”.
