Loving charity begins with compromising our own comfort for the genuine wellbeing of others. Not every sacrifice is wise, but not every compromise invites tyranny.

When a person cannot distinguish between genuine charity and utter capitulation, they lack compassion. This is a bad way to live, but when it’s pointed out they’ll usually respond with bitterness.

I’m saying that’s how you can tell the difference. Paying taxes is not charity, staying at home because men with guns will detain you if you do not is not charity. The difference is in your soul. Staying home to protect the vulnerable is charity. Staying home out of fear is not.
